Jan Brewer’s Inspirational Debate Speech

Byrdthestampede 2 years agoNazi? In this case - yep. It doesn’t break Godwin’s law to say it’s a Nazi - like law. It is legal in Arizona to detain suspects guilty of no crime based on appearance and demand proof of citizenship. It’s not really even hyperbole to compare it to 1930’s Germany.

Ruth D. 2 years ago@farkistan: I’ve read SB 1070 and the problem is in its vagueness. There’s a lot of talk of ‘probable cause’, but how exactly does one prove probable cause of illegal entry into the country? In Arizona, brown skin. When asked how the law will be implemented Brewer only said that the “language of the bill prohibits racial profiling”, but that’s not true—all it says is that a police officer may, without a warrant, arrest an individual if s/he has probable cause to believe that that individual “has committed any public offense that makes the person removable from the United States” (Article 8 Section E). So being Mexican, I guess.
