BuzzFeed Japan, a joint venture company established by BuzzFeed and Yahoo! JAPAN on August 12th, 2015, is pleased to announce that Daisuke Furuta joined BuzzFeed Japan today as the founding editor of our new media.
Mr. Furuta has worked for The Asahi Shimbun, Japan's national daily as a journalist. After covering social affairs in Japan, he became a correspondent of South East Asia and served as the Bureau Chief of the company's Singapore office.
After coming back to Tokyo in 2013, he became an editor of "Asahi Shimbun Digital" where he was engaged in interactive content creation as well as visualization, taking advantage of the features of digital media. Furthermore, he wrote a range of articles including the emerging media in Asahi's digital news site "withnews". With his extensive experiences and expertise, he was assigned as the founding editor of the new media by BuzzFeed Japan.

Daisuke Furuta graduated from Waseda University in 2001, and joined The Asahi Shimbun in 2002. After working in branch offices in Japan, Daisuke worked as a correspondent of South East Asia in Bangkok and served as the Bureau Chief of the company's Singapore office. He then joined the digital editions team of Asahi Shimbun. In 2015, he became the founding editor of BuzzFeed Japan.
