How Europe Views Mitt Romney, In One Newspaper Front Page
The blunt — and perhaps offensive — cover of the left-wing “Liberation” Monday says it all. “American Dream” and “American Horror.”

He is also very unpopular in the UK (as was G.W. Bush). Bush was, at least, on good terms with our PM, where as Romney has already stuck his foot in it with the current PM. Of course coming over to the UK and being asked a soft question of how he though preparations were coming along for the Olympics and saying “There are a few things that were disconcerting”, referring to the Leader of the opposition as “Mr. Leader”, and confirming that he had a briefing from MI6, it just… well it played of him being an arrogant idiot. Bush was at least, only an idiot (and if he hadn’t started two wars, one of which illegal, and dragged us into it - he probably would have been relatively well received in the UK… we like our well meaning idiots!).
We have front pages like this everyday in France, because they can’t sell papers and also because they loooove going on how terrible and stupid other countries are without actually looking at themselves (especially in Paris, where I come from), it’s like “we are better than everyone else because of our sophisticated culture, everything is gonna be fine because of macarons and surrealism”, that’s clearly a mentality that’s gonna get us out of our debt crisis and unemployment problem.
It’s how the whole world viewed Bush too. Particularly with the build up to Iraq.Romney is no different, he is basically clueless as to foreign relations, and his tour of Europe was basically Frank Drebin from the Naked Gun on acid.
