What we vehemently judge in others we usually find in our own heart. It’s hard not to rejoice at Breitbart’s passing but it’s also hard to ignore the log in my own eye. Be the change. It all comes down to the simplest of mantras.

smg7320 a year agoTo clarify: I’m not happy about the death of someone I disagreed with, I’m happy that he will no longer have what I see as a very dishonest and divisive influence on our country.
Is it good he’s no longer falsifying recordings to get people fired and being a generally douchey presence in the media? Yes.
Is it good that he’s dead? No. -

Is it unfortunate that his family lost a father and husband? Yes.
Is it unfortunate that the public discourse lost one of the slimiest, most dishonest blowhards of the modern era? No.
Am I making said discourse any better by pointing it out? No.
If his legacy died here, would we be better off as a society? Yes.
Would it have been better if his had ended his practices by way of retirement or coming to terms with his scumminess? Yes, yes, many times over yes.
Condolences to his family, but I personally won’t miss him in the slightest. -

JohnnyZombie a year agoI know it’s been said but it bears repeating- you may not have liked the guy (and I certainly did not), but he was still a husband, a father of four, and a friend to many. All people of all political stripes should be above dancing on graves. If you can’t be civil about a death on a public forum, then keep it to yourself.

littleainge a year agoHe was an absolutely horrible human being to anyone he stupidly disagreed with. He was a hypocrite, a liar, and he willingly and maliciously falsely accused people of things that ruined their careers and lives. He was also a father. His young children lost their dad. They don’t need to hear people cheering his death, trust me (from experience): this time will be hard enough for them. Yes, he would have celebrated the death of one of us liberals, but that does not mean we have to do the same.

fuck this guy. everyone go re-read what he did to shirley sherrod, just 1 of many of his evil, factless smears that destroyed peoples lives in the service of modern, amoral conservatism and website hits. conservatives will of course now whine like they always do because it is POLITICALLY INCORRECT (how ironic) to say it is a a good thing a total fucking scumbag is dead.
