From the 2-yard line, extra points were nearly automatic last year, succeeding 99.3% of the time, [according to the Wall Street Journal](http://www.wsj.com/articles/in-the-nfl-the-extra-point-is-so-easy-its-pointless-1431983614?mod=e2tw). Kicks from 30-34 yards out (where extra-point tries will be kicked from now that they'll be snapped from the 15-yard line) were successful 95.8% of the time last year.

Japanese manufacturer Takata said nearly 34 million vehicles are affected by this defective car part, leading to one of the largest recalls in U.S. history. What was the defective part?

The latest agreement by Takata and U.S. safety regulators covers “more than 13% of all cars and trucks on the roads in the U.S. today,” [according to the Detroit News](http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/2015/05/19/takata-air-bags-defective/27584545/). Car makers have already recalled 17 million vehicles with Takata airbags since 2008. The airbags are linked to six deaths and more than 100 injuries worldwide. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says some car owners might not find out their vehicles are on the recall list for months.
