As part of an effort to push back ISIS' military advance in Iraq, U.S. forces launched airstrikes this week against a city considered to be a strategic stronghold for the militant group. Which city is it?

The city, which is located 80 miles north of Baghdad, is expected to be a test of Iraqi forces as they try to wrestle back control of territory in northern Iraqi that was seized by ISIS last year.

Jim Obergefell's fight against Ohio is one of several stories now before the Supreme Court, as it considers whether the U.S. Constitution requires that states recognize same-sex couples’ marriages and allow other same-sex couples to marry.

The citizens of an African country will hit the polls tomorrow for its national elections. Which one is it?

The election looks to be a tight competition between incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and former general Muhammadu Buhari.

On Monday, the Supreme Court heard arguments on whether a Confederate flag license plate falls under the protection of free speech.   
Which state brought up the case?

The specialty plate at the center of Monday's case was proposed by the Texas division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), who argue that they are honoring their forebears.

The 2016 race kicked off early this week with the announcement of a candidacy bid. Who is the first official candidate for the upcoming U.S. presidential elections?

Last week, four California residents filed a lawsuit against two dozen wineries that produce some of the state's most popular (cheap) wines. They claim that those wines contained a significant level of a substance that could be dangerous to consumers — a claim that BuzzFeed News' Azeen Ghorayshi argues is false.   
What substance was it?

The substance is actually pretty common in just about everything we eat or drink, according to Ghorayshi. And it's completely fine.
