    Speakers:

    Aswini Anburajan and Ky Harlin of BuzzFeed

    Aswini Anburajan is Director of Partnership Development at BuzzFeed where she manages a network of 200 publishing partners, generates revenue opportunities and works with BuzzFeed's data science team to create thought leadership around the company's proprietary viral analytics. Prior to BuzzFeed, Aswini worked as the Director of Business Development at Outcast Media. Aswini's career started in politics as an opposition researcher for John Kerry. She then went on to become a writer and then associate producer and political reporter for NBC Nightly News, the Today Show and NBC News' Political Unit covering the 2008 political campaign as a full-time digital campaign reporter. Seeing the shift in the winds from broadcast to digital she left NBC after the election and went to get her MBA at Cambridge University. She has an undergraduate degree in International Relations from Brown University.

    Ky Harlin is a data scientist with over six years of experience in data-driven research, mining, and software development. He is currently the data scientist at venture-funded New York start-up BuzzFeed, where he studies viral content under CEO/Co-Founder Jonah Peretti. Among his primary research interests is the design and analysis of viral marketing and advertising campaigns across social networks. He recently developed a statistical methodology for detecting viral publisher content, for which he was named one of "21 New Media Innovators" by New York Magazine. Prior to BuzzFeed, Ky worked in medical research, developing mathematical analysis methods and software tools for nuclear imaging.He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Applied Mathematics.
