The End of Jack Valenti

Valenti, long-time head of the MPAA and one of the driving forces behind the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, died yesterday. He was 85.

Despite that fact that his positions were widely reviled by most online folk, the remembrances online today are respectful. RIP, Gentleman Jack. We'll pick up a bootlegged copy of Spiderman 3 today in your honor.

Editorial note: Whoa! You've found a super-old post here on BuzzFeed, from an earlier era of the site. It doesn't really represent where we are anymore, and may in fact be totally broken, but we're leaving it up as a part of our early history.
