Women: Seriously, start lifting weights. Heavy. Fucking. Weights. No more 4lb dumbbells and machine workouts. Squats, deadlifts, bench press, and all the other fun stuff in between. It is A LOT more fun than cardio, and I promise you that you won’t get bulky. You might think in the beginning that you are getting bulky, but I swear you are not. Measure yourself (waist, hips, arms, legs, bust, body fat %). Use measurements as goal points instead of body weight. You will burn as much (or more) calories doing serious weight lifting than doing cardio alone. And you will feel like an invincible bad-ass. Track how much weight you are lifting to see that you’re getting stronger! View food as fuel for your muscles to power you through your day and your next workout. If you are tracking your workouts, you will notice that your body won’t perform as well on the days where you don’t eat properly (I have especially noticed this on days when I don’t eat enough carbohydrates or fat, or when I eat too little in general). Of course, this won’t work for everyone, but I have lost over 40 lbs and have overcome an eating disorder primarily through this process. It all started when someone forced me into the gym and made me lift some heavy fucking weights.
