Too all the people who are like “omg a deaf person can speak” yes it's possible. It takes years of intensive speech therapy. I have plenty of profoundly Deaf friends who can vocalise/speak (they were taken to therapy as kids) but choose to sign as their main form of communication because if it's not 100% perfect people make fun of them :(  And not all people are profoundly deaf. So sometimes they can hear loud noises but miss most speech sounds. And not all deaf people want to hear. They are happy & proud of being Deaf and wouldn't change it for the world.

I've actually heard the whole story here. She was able to hear before, but lost her hearing due to a long-term condition. She's not crying because she's happy. She's crying because the implant she was given makes everything sound very harsh and loud, and it was too much for her to take. She immediately asked for it to be turned off. I understand that her implant has since been adjusted, although the sound is still very poor.

She doesn't have that deaf speech however, she sounds normal.
