I'm glad I'm from a country where tipping is just for what it should be (and I live in a country where everything is expensive enough for me not to dine out as it is) - very enjoyable service and waiters/waitresses are paid a fixed salary. A tip should be a bonus for great services rendered, not a mandatory part for a meal. I feel sad for the US - paying staff less than minimum wage sounds pretty damn illegal and immoral.

On second thought, what kind of grown-ass man waits tables to save up enough to buy a stupid video game instead of a car or paying their bills?!?! Kids save their weekly allowance from their parents for that kind of shit! Mow lawns! Rake leaves! Grow up! Welcome to the real world kiddo!

I've never been a waitress myself, but even when the service is bad I still tip at least 10-15% since busboys & bartenders depend on tips from servers too (which is followed by a request to speak to the manager on the way out to politely inform them of this)

I have my own opinions about tipping and how most servers have absolutely no right to complain ever (knowing how much some of them make on weekends), but I hate the fake preachy dollar bills more, so fuck you, customer.

I had more than a few assholes do this when I worked at a coffee shop. Usually people just threw their extra change in our cup, so we always got excited when someone tossed a bill in. Then you see that its fake and preachy, and it destroys that little happy feeling.  Leaving this with a tip would be kinda annoying but ok. Leaving this and making someone think its a tip? Straight up dick move.
