  • @K.L.: This was the “operations chief of Al Qaeda in Pakistan”, not the overall head of al Qaeda. At best Al Kini wasn't even a #2 in the overall organization, if such a thing even exists. The point Greg is making is that every month or two there is some announcement that some critical al Qaeda “leader” has been killed. People whip out the flashing siren gifs and thump their chests like we are winning the war on terror. Then nothing changes. Anywhere.

  • @Greg - Chief <> #2. Chief = #1
The old #2 becomes the new #1.
Are ya following, or are you an Obama supporter?

  • Wow. You're really jumping on this one. Have you forgotten that we've killed the “number two” guy in al Qaeda like a dozen times now? Either Islamic fundamentalists have very top heavy org charts, or the Bushies have been blowing smoke up our asses for the past seven years. If this really is a crippling blow to al Qaeda, then fantastic, but I've grown weary of the “Pentagon that cried wolf” act.  “Fool me twice…you can't get fooled again.”
