This ad was aired in 1995 at a time when the UK was starting to get over, but still had major stereotyping of the Gay Community. By portraying a Gay couple as (for the time) ‘Normal, Everyday People’ instead of the usual ‘Flamboyant Mincer’[sic] image that was the norm. I think it was done very well indeed, but the ‘Shock of the regular’ point rattled a few cages for which Guinness shouldn’t have backed down from…

I would feel offended at some of the closed minds that lump a couple of these ads as ‘Trashy’ or ‘Fail’. Whilst 3 & 4 could have shown a little more respect 1,2,5 and 6 have and just proved that people just go on a sudden morality trip when they see an image, not realising that is what the ad is aiming for main case in point is that 2 is proving that we don’t get all the facts we just assume, and 1,5 and 6 are highlighting the fact that what we think are the most terrible disasters pale into comparison to the innocent lives also taken on a larger scale by natural disasters - but its on the other side of the world so we don’t care do we? More people died in Hiroshima - men, women children, animals… People are still dying from the effects of Agent Orange in the water supplies Vietnam - That didn’t occur naturally either if I’m not mistaken! Get over yourselves America, whilst a terrible, condemnable disaster, its an 11 year old image now, and in the context that most of these ads are shown, you may learn that the world is bigger than the USA (although we try!)

‘Inside Schwartz’ actually was re-hashed into a UK TV Show called ‘Pete Vs. Life’ starring Rafe Spall (Prometheus, Shaun of the Dead)… Random.
