During the summer, the Palouse is gorgeous. Unfortunately, the Fall and Spring semesters at WSU tend to be at its non-green state, and it does not look quite like this. Still, go to some of the Buttes like Kamiak Butte and you will see stuff like this. It really is incredible. When the wheat is golden it can look pretty in certain places but most people in the area don’t see stuff like this on a regular basis

you obviously missed the point of earth hour. It’s to increase global awareness of the issue. Also, emissions from lighting candles is insignificant compared to the billions of lights going out.  Yes, we are so integrated into a globalist culture that we are all taking part in the machine and inadvertently hurting each other / ourselves. But the more awareness, the better chance we have of fighting it. No sane person thinks that an hour of shutting off the lights is going to do anything. It is an act that makes a statement that you are aware there is a problem. The more people that start thinking about it and caring, the more people become interested in the problem. You should probably take a hard look at where you’re targeting your anger. Earth hour isn’t going to save the world, but it sure as hell isn’t hurting us.

He clarified in a follow up that he meant that punishment should not be so harsh, not that he wanted pot legalized. Regardless, I agree with him here, but legalizing pot would be more beneficial. As long as it is illegal, there will be ridiculous incarcerations among other things.

Republican or not, Sarah Michelle Gellar is a great person. Obviously not all republicans are bad people. It seems a lot of democrats fail to understand there are republicans who are not ass****s. From wikipedia (our favorite ‘source’.. this happens to be backed up with valid sources, so no complaining): Gellar is an active advocate for various charities, including breast cancer research, Project Angel Food, Habitat for Humanity and CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, all of which she says you get to “physically do something”. She says, “I started because my mother taught me a long time ago that even when you have nothing, there’s ways to give back. And what you get in return for that is tenfold. But it was always hard because I couldn’t do a lot. I couldn’t do much more than just donate money when I was on the show because there wasn’t time. And now that I have the time, it’s amazing.” Sarah has proven to be a smart and genuinely nice and caring person. She has (often) been very vocal about her views on women equality. She also is proud of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and her best friend in that show is a lesbian.  All you Buffy fans should reconsider having any bittersweet feelings. You don’t know who she is voting for or for what reasons, and it shouldn’t matter anyway. She seems like a great person, so stop hating.
