Happy Meals Outlawed In California
Lawmakers in California are blaming Happy Meal toys for making kids like fast food. So they’ve outlawed them. Surely this will cut down on all those 5-year-olds driving to McDonalds and buying themselves burgers and Star Wars trinkets. Surely.

anthonyjp 2 years agoTo all of those saying “this is big government” I say… So what? If it is done on the local level, or state level. I am for these types of bans.. (Or localized “big government”) If you don’t like these laws, this is america move to another county, or simply don’t move to the county that bans fatty foods.. I live in minnesota, and I would be completly FOR these types of bans.. But as soon as a politician talks about FEDERAL mandates, that is when I will shout out “Big government”, let us take care of it on the local level

The advertising for products such as happy meals are intentionally designed to target children. There is a LOT of time and effort invested in creating an enticing picture of goodness that makes a kid’s mind say “I want that!” This is wrong in so many ways. A child does not have the mental maturity to construe that perhaps that “happy” meal, is the start of a taste for an unhealthy habit that is highly likely to cause major health problems later in life. I won’t even get into the issue about the meat served in America and it’s cocktails of antibiotics and other drugs, but I say kudos to California on a smart move.

Stupidest shit ever. It’s simple marketing. You don’t want your kids being FAT. DON’T FEED THEM FUCKING FATTY FOOD. SIMPLE RIGHT? While we are at it let’s get rid of video games too cause they make kids LAZY and they will do more homework. Parents not taking responsibility for their OWN CHILDREN is what’s wrong. Total fail.

Bryant T. 3 years agoFirst of all, it’s not the entire state of California, it’s one county. And, yeah, sure, those five-year-olds aren’t driving themselves, but I’m guessing the harried parents of the five-year-olds get tired of constant whining and needling from kids who just have to have one more cheap, toxic plastic toy made in China. Personally, I’d love to see people speaking out for this kind of action nationwide. We need to stop feeding our kids so much toxic crap. But in the meantime, this isn’t some big government crackdown - it’s one county making a decision for itself. Whatever those protesters at one meeting may represent, the county government obviously had some kind of public support and felt it was the right thing to do. I say, good for them.
