Miyamoto Musashi is widely considered as a Kensei (an honorary title given to a warrior with legendary sword skills) and is considered one of the greatest warriors of all time. He wrote a book called The Book of Five Rings that is still studied today. He was said to have never lost a duel in his life, and won his first duel at the age of 13.

Charles Martel

Also known as Charles the Hammer, he was Charlemagne's grandfather and only lost one battle in his lifetime. He even turned down the title of Consul from the Pope in 739. He's often credited with developing the feudal system and the concept of knighthood.

Edmund of East Anglia

Edmund of East Anglia, also known as Edmund the Martyr, protected the land of what became Britain from the pagan Danes. He died like a hero after being repetitively shot with arrows. He ended up being canonized by the Catholic Church and is the saint of Wolves, Kings and Torture Victims.

Matthew Gaines

Matthew Gaines was a former slave turned Senator of Texas. During his term, Gaines addressed the issues of public education, prison reform, the protection of black voters, and tenant farming reformation. The issue that was nearest to his heart though, was public education. He made valuable contributions towards the establishment of free public education in the state of Texas.

Mt. Huashan in Huayin City, China, is one of the most well-known mountains in China, and one of the most dangerous to climb. It has breath-taking cliffs and a very dangerous 12-kilometer-long path to the top.

K2 is the 2nd highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest and is located between Pakistan and China. Ascending up the mountain is very dangerous, and for every 4 people who have reached the summit, 1 has died trying. Due to the treacherous terrain, nobody has ever climbed K2 in the Winter.

Cows Are 40% Steak:

Don't Let The Name Fool You:

Don't let the National Beef Council pull one over on you. They give all their beef cuts names that make them sound gourmet and top quality, but there's a big difference between the different grades.

Prime – This is the good stuff. You'll find Prime cuts at nice butcher shops and fancy steak restaurants. This is going to be the juiciest, most flavorful cut of beef.

Choice – Eh. Not bad, but it's not Prime. Choice cuts are a little easier on the wallet, but still taste pretty great.

Select – Unless you're a prisoner or a wild animal, skip the Select cuts.

Know Some Chemistry:

The reason why steak is better after it's been marinated for a while is because the aging process allows natural enzymes to break down the tissue that holds the muscle together; thus, the longer it marinates, the juicer and tenderer the cut will be.

Don't Start With A Frozen Steak (Or Even A Cold One):

This one should seem obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people screw it up. If you have to use frozen steak, make sure to move it down to the fridge a couple days before you cook it, then take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before it hits the grill. Screw this one up, and all you'll have is a burnt meat popsicle for dinner.

1. What is Whisky?

   

   On a basic level, all whisky is distilled alcohol made from some kind of fermented grain, usually barley, rye, wheat or corn and aged in wooden casks. The type depends on where it was made -- there are a large number of different regulations around the world that define what can be called whisky.

2. Look under your car to find the drain plug.

   The drain plug is a large nut or plug located under the oil pan at the bottom of the engine. If you can't reach your oil drain plug easily, you'll have to either crawl under your car to reach it or jack up the car.

3. Push a container under the oil drain plug.

   You want this container to catch the oil, so make sure it's big enough.

4. Unscrew the oil drain plug.

   Protect your hand with a rag or some paper towels, and be ready to move your hand out of the way. The oil now drains out of your engine into the container.

5. Remove the cap from the oil filler hole at the top of your engine and unscrew the oil filter, using a wrench if you cant do it by hand.

   To unscrew the filter, twist it counterclockwise. The filter will have oil in it, so be careful not to spill it when you remove it. If any remnants of the filter's rubber seal remain on your engine, remove them.

6. Empty the oil from the filter into a drain pan.

   After the filter is empty, wrap it in newspaper and set it aside to take to a recycling center with your old oil.

7. Open a new bottle of oil and dip a finger into it.

   Use the oil to moisten the gasket on the top of the new oil filter.

8. Screw the new filter into the engine where the old one was.

   Follow directions on the filter, or turn it gently by hand until it seats and then give it another three-quarter turn.

9. Wipe around the place where the oil drain plug goes.

   Do this step only after all the oil has drained out.

10. Replace the oil drain plug and use an adjustable wrench to tighten it.

    If your vehicle uses an oil drain plug gasket, make sure the old one has been removed and lay a new gasket on the pan before you replace the plug.

11. Use a funnel to pour all but 1 quart of the fresh oil into the oil filler hole.

    Pour slowly to allow the oil time to run down.

12. Replace the oil filler cap and run the engine for 30 to 60 seconds.

    Check for leaks from the oil drain plug and around the filter.

13. Shut off the engine and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan, and then check the oil level again.

    Remove the oil dipstick, wipe it with a clean, lint-free rag, and shove it back in. Pull it out again and check it.

14. Keep adding oil a little at a time.

    Check the stick after each addition until you reach the "Full" line on the dipstick.

15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle and give the car a test drive.

    Go around the block a couple of times.

16. Let the oil settle down again for 5 to 10 minutes, then recheck the dipstick.

    If its still at "Full," youre good to go! Dispose of the old oil by taking it to an auto parts store or other oil-recycling center.

1. Before you go off and buy a watch, you should know these terms.

   

2. Complication

   Any function of a watch that goes beyond simple timekeeping. Could be an annual or lunar calendar, could be something as basic as a stopwatch.

3. Movement

   All those bits and pieces inside that run the thing.

4. Quartz

   A movement powered by a battery and regulated by the oscillations of a quartz crystal. It's way more accurate than other watch types which isn't to say we necessarily recommend you buy one.

5. Self-winding

   A type of mechanical watch, containing a rotor on a pivot, that's wound by the day-to-day movements of the wearer's wrist. It's also referred to as automatic.

6. Water-resistant

   Just because a watch says it's water-resistant doesn't mean you should swim or shower with it on. To be safe, only do so if it's water-resistant up to one hundred meters.

7. So what are you looking for when you are buying a fancy watch?

   Keep in mind, this watch is not something you wear to the gym! It's a watch that you wear with your 3-piece suit!

8. *Sophisticated Metals

   

   Watches made from rose gold, titanium, and platinum show the world you know what you're talking about.

9. *Multiple Complications

   

   Make it as simple as a chronograph or as intricate as a moon phase: When your watch has a big price tag, you should expect a little something extra from it.

    Look for a unique design or point of view that only comes from serious watchmakers.

1. The Martini

   

   2½ oz gin, 1½ oz dry vermouth, 3 green olives

2. Rinse martini glass in dry vermouth and pour out. Shake gin with ice until chilled. Pour into martini glass. Add olives.

3. The Manhattan

   

   1¾ oz bourbon, ¾ oz of sweet vermouth, 1 dash of aromatic bitters, 1 Maraschino cherry

4. Pour bitters, liquors over ice in mixing glass. Stir and strain into martini glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.

5. The Old Fashioned

   

   2 dashes aromatic bitters, ½ tsp sugar dissolved with water and bitters, 1½ oz of bourbon, 1 cherry, 1 orange slice, 1 lemon wedge

6. Fill glass with ice. Add cherry, orange slice, and lemon wedge. Pour in bourbon. Serve in a rocks glass over ice.

7. Mint Julep

   

   2 oz bourbon, 8 sprigs of mint, 1 tsp of sugar

8. Put mint and sugar with a dash of water in mixing glass. Add shaved ice and bourbon. Shake until frosted and pour all into rocks glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.

9. The Gin & Tonic

   

   2 oz gin, 5 oz tonic water, 1 lime wedge

10. Pour the gin and the tonic water into a highball glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with the lime wedge.

11. The Whiskey Sour

    

    2 oz whiskey, ½ oz fresh lemon juice, ½ oz tsp sugar, 1 cherry, ½ lemon slice

12. Put all ingredients in mixing glass and add ice cubes. Strain into highball glass. Add lemon slice and cherry to garnish.
