Check how the woman is sitting in the pic of the guys on the subway. The problem isn’t that we are policing how men sit, the problem is that men have no problem taking up space (next time you’re in a theater, check what happens when someone makes their way down a row to a seat. Women usually automatically pull their legs back, men often have to be asked).
BTW, the twitter the subway pic is from characterized it as “NYC, Rush Hour.” Good chance SOMEONE didn’t get a seat because those guys needed to keep their testicles aired.
The article wasn’t really clear about WHAT is misogynist about each of the issues, but all of them resonated with me. However, a lot of people seem unclear on WHY things are problematic.
Like street harassment, I find that these things grind on me. None are enough to ruin my day, but when they happen often, it’s like a thousand paper cuts; I probably won’t bleed to death from it, but it’s ANNOYING!
