These anti-athiest comments are doing nothing to reduce my (admittedly somewhat arrogant and far from entirely accurate) belief that I, as an atheist, am morally and intellectually superior to any religious person. And they’re certainly strengthening my conviction that the more religious a person is, the more likely they are to be a delusional, hate-filled twat.

In my experience, there are an equal number of hate-filled twats on both sides of the fence. Fortunately, there are just as many reasonable people as well. I have concluded that being a good person has nothing to do with believing or not believing in God. (“And on what foundation do you base your morality?” asks the believer. “Whatever minimizes suffering and brings true happiness is good; whatever creates suffering and brings unhappiness is bad,” I respond. “And how do you determine this?” asks the believer. “I live, I listen, I learn,” I say. And then I shut the hell up, because I can’t possibly answer a question that has not been successfully answered for over 3,000 years.)
