There’s a big difference between commercial hip-hop (see: Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, 2 Chainz, Drake) and real hip-hop (see: Doomtree, Cunninlynguists, Jedi Mind Tricks, The Roots, ATCQ, Talib Kweli, Childish Gambino). No need to generalize. Commercial hip-hop (those that rap about those things that you are speaking out about) is what sells records. Real hip-hop doesn’t sell records. Just like those people that claim that Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, and Jason Aldean are amazing country singers. Sure, they are. But they are also lightyears away from the true roots of country. Next time actually pay attention to the topic you’re so spoken out against. You’re making broad, sweeping generalizations of hip-hop.
