  • Kit Kat Poster-Chair

    Increasingly, advertising has to do something a little different to stand out. And of course the New Big Thing is interactivity; consumers like adverts they can interact with. Hence overly clever internet banner ads, 'design your own ad' competitions which are actually ad campaigns, flashmobs and so on. Well Kit Kat are taking this all a stage further again in Australia, with a poster ad that you can actually interact with in the literal sense. These posters are springing up all over Auckland, mainly on routes to summer outdoor gigs. Consumers can pull the chair out of the poster and take it with them to sit on at the gig. Which we think is just awesome, for three reasons. Firstly because sitting on the floor sucks. Secondly, it's an amazing execution of "have a break, have a Kit Kat". And finally because you've got an ad which a lot of people are actually going to be actively looking out for.

  • The 3-in-1 Car

    This is the Mo Du Lo - a three-part concept vehicle which you can construct and deconstruct at will. The "Mo" is in fact just a bicycle, albeit a very cool one. The "Du" is born when you strap two "Mo"s to an engine, turning it into a pretty snazzy looking (and of course electric) car... And the "Lu" is a train of "Du"s, which is a train-like contraption perfect for transporting whole families.

  • Turning the City Sideways

    Maybe this is only because it's Friday morning, but this took us a good few minutes to work out what was going on. Particularly impressive is the guy in the middle, who looks totally relaxed despite supporting his weight on one arm. We'd love to see a whole series of these, preferably around a skate park or something for added confusion...

  • Suspended Treehouse

    These Free Spirit Sphere tree houses are about as good as it gets in the field. You could even say they are top of the tree. The two houses are called Eryn and Eve, and are never in one place for more than a few days, to minimise their impact on their environment. Each is set up on ropes hanging from trees, and is accessible only by a wooden staircase attached to a nearby tree, then a spindly suspension bridge. They are let out to one or two people, and provide a unique opportunity to live completely disconnected from the ground. By the looks of it, they aren’t uncomfortable either. These tree houses are all the way over in Vancouver, Canada, but Free Spirit Spheres also sells them, allowing you to set this thing up in your own garden. You’d need some pretty big trees, but it would provide the ultimate getaway. Had an argument with your partner? Just climb up and pull in the suspension bridge… beats the dog house any day.

  • Wave Photography

    This stuff is just pure art - nothing else to be said. We love these shots so just had to share them. Taken from within the 'tube' of a wave with a waterproof camera and some amazing timing, the effect is amazing. It's almost enough to make us want to take up surfing. (source: internetpopculture)

  • Toy Art

    We just had to post this when we found it due to a serious sense of nostalgia. Each of these creations is made out of bits of toys discarded by the artist’s children. Obviously, they are therefore all recycled, but that’s not really the point of this stuff. The artist (Robert Bradford) claims that each creation represents a point in time, due to the toys used to create it, and we’re forced to agree. Looking closely reveals dozens of toys that we all used to play with, and the relevant memories… One question though – what was wrong with lego and meccano?!

  • Pumpkin Boat

    Here at Baby we always have our eyes open for any wierd and wacky stunts, and this has to be our recent favourite. Mr. J.R. Hildebrant, of Wisconsin USA, has turned a pumkin - of truly titanic proportions - into a boat. Certainly beats just carving a face on the front. He’s even got room for a heater in there with him. This is all in aid of fundraising for a charity which gives memorable trips to children with special needs. Or possibly it’s just one-upmanship with the owl & the pussycat, but it’s a good excuse anyway.

  • Limited Design for Unlimited Life

    These shelves, which are part of the RealLimited series, are amazing. Artist Katharina Mischer chose an endangered Austrian fungi species and translated them into a limited design edition - fungi species sculpted from tin are shown growing on an old 'rotten' wooden board. These designs are a limited edition in which each tin mushroom is numbered, and represent one mushroom left in reality. We love the design of this luscious furniture and it supports a good cause too - part of the money going to environmental projects that try to save the specific fungi species.   • Ipod Goes Wooden

    We've always thought ipods were pretty cool - along with millions of others. And they have always had some of the funkiest accessories to go along with this. What could be left to add? The answer - a new range of products from Vers. These ipod cases are the pick of the lot, with a full choice of sizes and even different woods from bamboo to cherry available. On top of this, Vers do a fabulous range of sound systems - see their website for details (source). What separates these from the scores of other ipod accessory ranges? They are hand-crafted, custom-made and above all renewable. And we think they're not too bad looking either.
