This is all part of the Dungeons & Dragons aggressive new guerrilla marketing campaign. D&D isn't just for the weird nerds in the library at lunch anymore.
This is Market St San Francisco; where people play chess. A few months ago, there was a huge Chutes N' Ladders board set up on Lombard St for children. Looks like we love our board games.
Just don't let strangers touch your magic.
I would just like to point out that we played D&D under a big tree, because we got kicked out of the library for being too loud. Being outside made us less pasty.
