At the risk of my comments here being taken out of context by the Right wingnut propaganda machine, I have to admit Sarah Palin is an interesting character to have on the political scene.
Elderly right-wing white men seem to love their uneducated and pugnacious housewives, so they adore her. Elderly right-wing women like the impossible double-standard she embodies (seemingly successful at work, seemingly successful with her family, and still manages to look pretty by their standards), so they admire her.
She is the ultimate example of the lowest common denominator in America standing up and rating someone “just like them”. They're so enchanted by the fantasy she represents that they forgive her frightening ignorance, false piety, and aggression.
We can only hope the rest of America who actually finished at least high school will see her for the scary demagogue she is and keep her from getting any more power.
