Americans jump on sports they're good at. If they don't win; they don't care. Cycling anyone? Lance Armstrong wins and all of a sudden its Americas favorite past time. Nobody gave two fecks before he appeared on the scene. The same will happen to soccer if they win. Until then hot-dog eating will be a bigger sport in the USA.

Let me put this in perspective: Non-Americans getting worked up over this headline as being indicitive of American attitudes is like getting worked up over something you saw in The Sun.

Typical American ego. Yeah soccer is stupid? Really? Ever take a look at baseball or NASCAR? Oh that's right 8 year old's call things stupid they can't understand. That explains it all.

@Dre: We didn't love soccer. We loved the US beating other countries in something we don't care about and they do. Uh, and I believe that the US has made it out of the preliminaries in 4 out of the last 5 World Cups.

how typical.. last week Americans loved soccer like they never had before and jumped all on the bandwagon cause they actually made it out of the preliminaries… now after their (not surprising) loss it's stupid again?? SMH…
