My generation, that sits around their computers, turning this life threatening disaster into some kind of joke. Who make snarky, sarcastic, narcissistic, arrogant comments on the internet for no reason other than to satisfy their need to justify everything they believe. Who seem to not look at the big picture. We focus on one little pixel of the 18 megapixel situation we’ve unwillingly found ourselves in and that pixel is political gain. Why does everyone have to be “right” all of the time? Its amazing how in generations past, you can guarantee that this nation would have pulled itself together and done whatever possible to get this problem solved as quickly as possible. I’m sorry that we can’t forget about politics and think about people. We demonize BP, call for their heads. “Down with the Big Corporation!” we shout. Yet we forget that the “Big Corporation” is made up of a lot of little people. Whose livelihoods are just as at risk as the coastline residents. I don’t mean to sound preachy. And yes, I’m a hypocrite. Who isn’t? But can we please stop being so…..immature,…..apathetic…….just down right negative about this disaster? Who cares if Joe Barton apologized to BP? Why are we more eager to pass around blame in a senate hearing than we are to pass around soap in a pelican refugee camp? We need to get off of our moral high horses and stop turning everyone into an enemy and get this crapped cleaned up. (see above: hypocrite)
