I live in Arizona. I also have the unfortunate luck of being a “Mexican-American.” It's awful to know that if I happen to be out and about, having an off day and maybe looking a little “homey” or disheveled; I might be asked for proof of citizenship- OR DETAINED IF IT'S NOT ON ME. There is no law in Arizona stating that residents must carry identification on them at all times. SB1070 has made me extremely disadvantaged and sadly, uncomfortable in my own skin. Immigration control is supposed to benefit me, not cause me civil unrest.
