Thanks, Tanner! I’m one of the Detroit residents who heeded the call and am helping work on RoboCop fundraising and production. Please, everybody, spread the link, the love, and, if you can, the capital: http://detroitneedsrobocop.com . To get surious, I work on an internet startup that explores new ways to put Detroit online and crowd fund projects here. I believe that because of its symbolic nature, if the RoboCop statue gets funded it will be a huge shot across that bow that alternative crowd funding and micro investment can make many things possible in Detroit that didn’t seem possible before. “If a statue of RoboCop can raise X from Y people, then goshdangit Z can too.”
