nyankochan 2 months agoI have only 2 baristas who do this, and that’s just cause I’m friendly and always chatting with them, so it’s cool. One guy writes “Texas” on my orders, since I told him I was from there, after complaining about how cold it was in the store. The other girl just puts down what my hairdo is, or what hat I’m wearing (“cat hat”, “spikes”, and so forth).

Quinn St. Clair 2 months agoThese made me giggle so. “Quinn” often gets misheard as “Gwen” - or worse, “Gwyn”. Occasionally it has been “Guin”, which always delights me because I can pretend it sounds Dwarvish. Sometimes it’s “Kim”, too, which is a drag as this name just makes me just say yuck. I can only own it, though; I don’t have the kind of voice that easily carries above a husky mumble.

I’m pretty easy going about the strange spellings of my name - including the times they give me a decidedly male name that no girl would ever sport. But I do think if I got a cup back that said ‘cunt’ or ‘clit’ on it I would complain - that’s clearly not a misheard name - they’r just taking the piss.

Omg you are SO right about the Jordan thing!! They always mess up my name somehow and I’m like, “Dude, I spell mine the RIGHT way!! JordAn.” Ugh damn these parents trying to be original and cutesy with their different spellings of common names…

vanessaj8 2 months agoThe only rule you should follow for ordering at Starbucks (from a former employee):
SPEAK THE FUCK UP! The music is always pretty loud, not to mention the sound of the coffee grinder and milk being steamed.
Also:
If your name is one of those names that have 80 million different spellings (Katy, Kailtyn, Mark/Marc, etc, etc) don’t be an ass and nitpick the spellings. Move on with your life and curse the people who decided to be different and spell the name weird (your parents maybe included in this category.) -
