Reasons Why You Should Watch Penelope Right Now

Why shouldn't you watch a movie about a girl who learns to love herself as she is? And young James McAvoy is in it!! SPOILERS

1. Christina Ricci plays Penelope, a girl who is cursed with pig features until "someone of her own kind accepts her as she is"

2. Her mother is crazy, so we can relate to Penelope's problems with her

All her mother wants for Penelope is to be "normal", but she can never accept Penelope, not really.

Ugh. Mothers.

3. Penelope has "blind" dates with bluebloods ( rich men) that could "break" her curse, these usually didn't go so well.

There's actually a one-sided mirror between those two, so Penelope can see them, but they can't see her.

Basically the ends of her dates or the ends of mine. The man running away...forever alone...

4. This is the main love interest, Max/Johnny (James McAvoy), who is a piano player and gambler.

He is one of the best reasons why you should watch this now!

5. This is the young and handsome bad guy Edward (Simon Woods) who saw Penelope and freaked out. And now he, like, hates her.

I'm kinda sad because I just found out this actor also played Mr. Bingsley in Pride&Prejudice

6. After Penelope goes out into the world (Like the independent woman she is), she meets her new BFF Annie (Reese Witherspoon)

7. Max/Johnny meets Penelope when he meets Lemon, a news reporter trying to get a picture of the "pig girl"

Lemon recruits Max to get a picture of Penelope, but later finds out his real name is Johnny.

Max is actually some dude played by Nick Frost.

(SPOILER Max/Johnny falls in love with her ;D)

8. When Penelope finds out Max/Johnny works for Lemon, she throws him out

Penelope is an underrated movie, that has wonderful acting, a great plot, and a much-appreciated message that women and girls today need.

You are beautiful, all the time, inside and out. But to truly let other people see that, you must first accept it (and understand it) yourself.
