Hi my name is Michael Dean. I've been podcasting for over nine years, under a few different names, Freedomtrain and now PodcastJuice. Some may know us from our shows 'The Prince Podcast', 'Geeked Out', 'A Place In This World', '2 Nigs United 4 Podcasting', 'The Classic Joints' and 'This is What We DO!'. I've had the pleasure of meeting (online) some amazing people from podcasting over the years. Also I hope by sharing some of my more personal stories I have inspired and motivated others to reach for their dreams.
I had been REALLY hesitant to start a crowdfunding campaigns, for fear that it would not be successful. Fear was a major stumbling block for me. Well, as you can see, I'm at a place where I have to cast uncertainty, doubt and all fears aside! Dream BIG!
For the past 4 months, I have been podcasting full-time. I was laid off from my full-time job and with that I came to crossroads in my life where it became more imperative to be in control of my destiny. With this new mindset, I made the jump full force into podcasting. No more one show here and there. My goal was to give our dedicated listeners reliable schedule of PodcastJuice content. Weekly to daily content is the norm. Our audience has rising greatly. We started PodcastJuice All Access, a membership platform giving full access to archives of show content and launched a ‘members only’ show dubbed 'High Heel Boots'. I am overwhelmingly appreciative for the response to All Access. The reality is it's $5.00 per month and it's just simply not enough to cover all the expenses.
I need your help to fund PodcastJuice for the next few months.
What We Need
What will the funds be used for:
Better quality microphones for co hosts
Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. I use Photoshop for all the show and website art. Adobe Audition for all podcast editing and production.
New computer! I'm currently using my Dell Dimension e520 (from 2007), Looking to get a laptop that can handle all production and make things mobile.
New Mixer - AlesisMultiMix 8 USB FX 8-Channel Mixer
New Headphones - Sony MDR-7506 Headphones. Nothing fancy just something perfect for mixing and monitoring the show.
Paying my team! I do not host the shows alone. BigSexy, Qstorm , Sean Hill, AntPooh, DeyDropping and BigKen have helped me out for years.
Travel - A big part of taking this to the next level is doing interviews and covering events. (Comic-Con, E3, PAX, SXSW, Paisley Park, Coachella, etc)
The Impact
It's simple, this will enable the podcast to continue and move to the next level. The goal is to produce four (4) shows a week. I'll be completely honest, I LOVE PODCASTING! I feel it's my calling to talk and share with through this medium. There is a lot of time that goes into creating PodcastJuice. With over 40 hours of content, that’s a full time job! Not including pre- and post-production, maintaining the site and marketing.
