yeah but … the majority of characters are of Japanese origin. it only makes sense that the best cosplayers would be as well. which is not to discount the obvious discrepancy in effort and talent invested in the costume. but still… face/body type is like 80% right? an opinion that is irrelevant to a post based mainly around laughing at well-intentioned people (which i am ALL about) but an observable assessment nontheless.

So, basically, if you are older, overweight, can’t afford the obviously high price tag of the ‘best’ costumes, or you don’t have sewing skills or the time, you are a fail. But if you are an unnaturally thin teenager, willing to cover your entire body with costume makeup (and willing to show most of that body off), and have some time and disposable income you win comic con. People go to these things to have fun, not to be judged.

#6 needs to be reversed, Buzzfeed. Princess Peach? She’s a blonde, skinny girl, and only a blonde, skinny girl can only do her justice. Sailor Moon? They’re Asian girls with pastel hair. You’d better be cute and Asian with hair dye. Pikachu? Why, Pikachu is a chubby, yellow mouse, and in order to do the character justice and actually get credit, you’d better be an attractive girl with access to yellow underwear…wait, what?
