GOP Spokesman Says Fair Pay Law Lets Women “Unnecessarily” Sue

Romney has been cagey about his feelings on equal pay legislation, but one Republican Party spokesman isn’t.

Tory Mazzola is the Executive Director of the New Hampshire Republican Party. His statement that the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act “is really about a handout to trial lawyers because it expands the areas that people can sue their employers unnecessarily” goes beyond what Romney has been willing to say. When asked if he would have signed the act, he said that while he “certainly support[s] equal pay for women,” he wouldn’t “go back and look at all the prior laws and say had I been there which ones would I have supported and signed.”
