DJs Say Middleton Hospital Prank Was “Put Through Every Filter” Before Airing
The prank call that may have led to a nurse’s suicide went through the same vetting process as the station’s many other prank calls, said the DJs in a TV interview.
Australian DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian made a prank call to the hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated; days after apparently falling for the prank, nurse Jacintha Saldanha was found dead in a possible suicide. In an interview on Australia’s A Current Affair, they tearfully discussed the prank.

starb 5 months agoA bad chain of events - They expected to be hung up on due to their over the top bad fake accents
- The nurse was Indian born, English second language and so couldn’t tell the difference. The hospital was expecting the royals to call.
- A severe dressing down from her superiors at the hospital
- Feeling overwhelming guilt you failed in your job to look after and protect a sick and pregnant Kate Middleton. In a nation that remembers what happened when Princess Diana was not protected. This woman killed herself not because of the DJ’s but because of the overwhelming guilt she had failed in her duty to protect the most famous patient in the hospital. -

tooks 5 months agoThe fault lies squarely with hospital (possibly Royal) security. It was FAR too easy for that call to be made. Rally, who would ever expect that a woman would kill herself over an incident like that?!? Especially because there was crummy security practices! I don’t wish to minimize a person’s suicide, for that would be cruel. I do believe, though, that there must have been some underlying emotional disturbance already at play here. It is sad. Very, very sad for everyone.

itmustbeken 5 months agoSorry. I think the only remorse they feel is that they lost their jobs.

Allison Ferguson 5 months agoI feel really bad for what happened, but in defense of the DJs, those were insanely awful impersonations of the royal family they were using. You’d think the hospital would have been able to figure out it was a prank call on their own.

katherinerh 5 months agoThe public needs to stop blaming these DJs. My thought is that she was going to be fired, was distraught over that but that is no cause for this witch hunt.
