samio 4 months agoYes those signs are totally absolutely definately necessary. Some people are plain stupid. But still… These people are so stupid that they ignore the signs so… In the end I guess the signs are useless because not all people are idiots and idiots do not care about the signs.

sterlingarcher 4 months ago@elli: That’s not a Nashville thing. Most hotels have those signs by sprinklers. You’d be surprised how often idiots hang crap from them. Happened to a colleague of mine last January in Pasadena. Guy next to her hung something on the sprinkler and broke the red tab. Flooded her room and most of the floor.

elli 4 months agoOnce while in Nashville, TN, I was staying in a hotel which felt it was necessary to add a sign next to every fire sprinkler with a warning along the lines of, “Do not hang things from sprinkler”. The fact that someone, at some point, hung something up on a FIRE SPRINKLER (an inevitably set it off) upset me greatly.

I’ve actually been to several of these places! Anyways, signs like #15 are usually there because a lake/ocean was further out, so naturally they would place the sign right near where it used to be, but then the water may have dried up some and receded, thus leaving a sign like that on dry land.
