Andrew Pug a year agoI totally supported the movement… until I went and saw it in person. The people there are a horrible representation of what we as Americans should be fighting for. We need jobs, I fully support that and taxing the rich. The middle class is diminishing and I see no reason why Bush tax cuts are still in affect when they have done NOTHING to create any jobs- like I said I get it. What I do not get is why the protesters there do not understand that. In Miami I interviewed a couple of people for a project and to be honest I wanted to be moved with inspiration but instead it just seemed like there was a disconnect- one man flat out told me he was there because he had no responsibility if he supported the movement, another woman told me we could fix the problems if we “printed more money.” Oh and she also said paper dishers could be “printed money” as well and that they can make the money but they are choosing not too.
All in all the Occupiers in Miami really made me think negatively about the movement. Listen we all know there is a problem, but the Occupy movement is not a good solution to the problem. Playing the victim is getting old and Occupy is doing just that and I am getting tired of the slanted news BuzzFeed is constantly reporting. THEY ARE NOT VICTIMS THEY VOLUNTARILY CHOSE TO CAMP OUT, therefore if they get evicted because they were causing damage or harm to the park they need to GTFO. So over it I wish they would just go away.

Happy Dude a year agoIf you’re being honest then I’m sorry you had a bad experience. My experience talking to lots of types of people at different Occupation sites has been the opposite… however I agree with them not because I like them personally but because what they’re fighting for is true and just.

Fiji Wiji a year agoSo the experience of one person speaks for the actions of thousands? I went to Occupy Wall Street and had a completely opposite experience.

Andrew Pug a year agoI completely agree. If someone were protesting on my lawn, after awhile it gets to the point where you just have to clean up the mess and unfortunately the mess was them! Now to see them trying to Occupy the Subways it makes me sick that they think they have the right to do that! If they are all for the middle class than why are they hurting the MTA who employs conductors and captains many of whom are apart of the middle and lower class anyways! Stop hurting those who have a job and instead start trying to drum up some support to make companies create them!

mailtime a year agoI too saw the people getting evicted from the Portland camp, and while I totally support the idea of the OWS movement those people who were there “representing” the 99% were not the people who should be out there as the face of us. The run-aways and homeless are not an accurate representation of the people in the country who are demanding change; they are the ones who turned the camps into slum like areas while at the same time giving the movement a poor facade, especially to the conservatives and neh-sayers who are constantly looking to oppress the country even further.
