Why Politicians Support “Stand Your Ground” Laws
The NRA fought hard for legislation allowing people to shoot intruders in their homes and assailants on the street, legislation that’s become intensely controversial around the Trayvon Martin shooting. Here are television ads for Southern candidates and for the NRA that give a glimpse of the emotional, and political, case for those laws.

Get your facts straight.
Petit having a gun wouldn’t have helped since they attacked him with a baseball bat and knocked him out while he was already asleep. Even if he had one under his pillow it wouldn’t have helped. The daughters were not beheaded, although the fire thing was true. What does any of this have to do with the stand your ground law? You are presenting a tragic event as though it is all the evidence we need to return to wild west lawlessness. And besides, if you want to talk about children killed where guns are involved, how about the over 3000 children who are accidentally killed every year by guns parents keep in their own home for protection? Why aren’t you talking about all of them? Maybe if those guns weren’t there, those 3000 children who are killed every year would still be playing and going to school and celebrating Christmas instead of being dead as well. -

Remember the Dr. William Petit tragedy? He was bound and gagged and forced to watch his wife and oldest daughter get their heads cut of, and layed helplessly while his youngest daughter was raped, then all of them set on fire. Put a gun in his hand and instead off a dead mom and two little girls, it would could have been two dead murderer’s/ child rapists. You anti-gun idiots can depend on 911. I’ll take my Glock .45 any day! And when crooks kick on your door, you’ll be the ones running to your neighbor that has a gun.
