Mitt Romney Praised ObamaCare Mandate, Exchanges, Portability In 2010
Mitt Romney yesterday said in an interview with CBS News that the individual mandate was a tax, while the plan he put in place in Massachusetts was a penalty, and not a tax. In a video from April 2010, Mitt Romney praised some similarities between his plan and President Obama’s. Romney said he liked the individual mandate, the portability of the insurance, the requirement that insurers cover people with a preexisting condition, and the similar exchanges. Romney said his plan was different because it was state plan and his plan did not raise taxes, and did not cut Medicare. (As a Governor, Romney had no authority to cut Medicare.)

jackd11 10 months ago@ 1:05 Romney invokes the Tenth Amendment, saying that the federal government cannot be involved in health care. He should be intellectually consistent and then call for the repeal of medicare, which as a federal program is not authorized under the Tenth. Of course, if he did, he would lose every state. Even the Tea Partiers would scream bloody murder if their Medicare benefits were taken away.

travizz 10 months agoWhat a joke. I can’t believe a word that comes out of Romney’s mouth. Furthermore, Romney hasn’t developed any sort of plan or proposal that would replace Obamacare, if repealed-probably because his only proposal would be very similar to his state plan and, therefore, Obamacare.
