jeffstevekingm a year agoSo this is supposed to make Mitt look bad? I think it is much worse to be jetting off to Hawaii on 2 separate jets, 2 separate staffs and do it it on the taxpayer’s dime is much more appalling than working hard and earning money to buy multiple homes. The difference is one worked for his money and isn’t living off taxpayer money to live lavishly; the other thinks the people of this country owe it to him.

Ok, first off, I want to say that I don’t begrudge Mitt his wealth and success, be it earned or inherited. However, the fact remains that his experiences and worldview perspective comes from a very privileged vantage. By constantly insisting he’s “everyman,” by referring $374,000 dollars in speaking fees as “not much,” by comparing his “fears of unemployment and pink slips” as being somehow comparable to someone who is wondering how they’re going to eat that week, he shows a complete lack of understanding for what a vast majority of the people he’s supposedly trying to represent actually go through. It shows a lack of genuine empathy. It comes across as callous, thoughtless, irreverent and mocking. He would do better just to own up to his wealth, come clean and be genuine.
