brandonr4 3 months agoArmed teachers is definitely a bad idea, but trained armed guards/ police assigned to the school grounds makes sense to me. We have them at banks, every government building, and lots of other places guarding mostly things not people. Shouldn’t children be afforded the same protection?

MEP 3 months agoI have to totally agree, requiring teachers to be armed in order to protect children from crazies with guns is dangerous. Teachers want to teach! They are not paid enough to guard with guns. Besides, what about liability, can people not imagine the lawsuits these teachers could face after a shoot out? if they acted accordingly, if they protected the kids “enough”. No, this burden of safety should not shift to them, requiring them to carry guns and shoot people. I’m all for more safety measures put in place, but not more guns. There have got to be other answers.
