In 1995 Video, Ron Paul Takes Credit For The Ron Paul Survival Report
Under fire for racist articles, Ron Paul has distanced himself from newsletters that went out for years under his name. But this previously unnoticed video reveals that before the controversies, Paul eagerly took credit for the newsletters.
“I also do an investment letter — it’s called the ‘Ron Paul Survival Report’ — which is a gold oriented newsletter. But it’s also expressing concern about surviving in this age of big government,” Paul says, by way of introduction, in this 1995 video filmed by an MBA student at the University of New Mexico. In another 1995 video, Paul described the Report as an “investment” newsletter. Though Paul has recently denied paying any attention to newsletters published in his own name, he was very willing to plug them in 1995.

You pick, Paul defenders: is he evil, or a fraudulent moron? Column A or column B?

briantochtermanj a year agoWhat exactly does this prove? He notes the the newsletter exists and it’s not like he’s been trying to claim it doesn’t. It doesn’t prove that he wrote it (he didn’t) and it doesn’t prove that he was active in reading/editing it…

ryethebread a year agoRon Paul is a fair man and I’m going to quit paying attention to this stupid garbage. It has no real teeth and it’s a lame attack. They need something more substantial to portray him as being an unreasonable racist, like a picture of him worshiping Satan with David Duke. As an aside, If you want to see what modern racism really is and what it looks like, watch “Mugabe and the white African” (available on netflix streaming) and then you can understand actual racism and what comes of it.

roll85 a year agoI understand that some people may care a lot about an issue like this (myself included - I care about equal treatment regardless of race, sex, etc.), but saying this disqualifies someone from being the president is insane. The U.S. is in decline and there are MUCH bigger issues to debate. People get tricked into caring about small issues - Reverend Wright comes to mind. Let’s get to the stuff that will be most important in the coming years: economic plans, foreign policy - you know, stuff the president actually has SOME control over and stuff that will largely determine Americans’ quality of life in the future. Saying this is a major issue - especially when someone has distanced himself from these views - is just more distraction. As an American ex-pat, I hope that Americans are at least aware that many people see the U.S. in decline and cannot believe the stupid political discussions Americans have. For god’s sake, debate POLICY that matters and get your heads out of your a*ses. And btw, look up Robert Byrd if you want to see how someone’s views can evolve. This is all coming from someone who voted for Obama in ‘08 and will likely vote for him again in ‘12.
