Most “images” as they call them (because altering a “photograph” sounds more disingenuous than altering an “image”) we see in magazines are shopped. Sadly, often, as is this one, they are shopped far past the point of being attractive.

I hate that I read this.

A lot of these pictures are old or from the hardest hit/poorest places. I went in 2006 and even less than a year after the damage was done it have the creepy, quiet quality these very selective pictures have.  I would encourage you to go to NOLA. It is an amazing place. …Just don’t go to Six Flags.

Same-sex marriage is legal here because the Iowa Supreme Court ruled (unanimously) that it is against our state constitution to deny people the right to marry. The ruling is being appealed, and there are members of our state legislature who would like to amend the constitution to define marriage as solely between a man and a woman (but this won’t be a threat until 2014 because of state rules and politics). Another route is through a constitutional convention, which will be voted on next Tuesday. Here’s hoping you are right and these people are the minority so that Iowa can live up to its tolerant reputation by keeping marriage equal and these judges on the bench!
