13 Things Deaf People Will Understand

The struggles and advantages that deaf people will understand.

1. "Oh! I am so sorry!"

Whenever you tell people that you can't hear them. All they say is, "Oh I am so sorry!" yeah well it's not even your fault.

2. "Can you read my lips?"

After telling them that you're deaf. They goes..."Can you read my lips?" Yeah just a little bit but sorry I don't understand you...

3. Continuing to Speak to you

Once you told them you can't hear but they didn't care and continue on speaking to you. Like seriously...please shut up once I tell you I CAN'T HEAR YOU AT ALL.

4. Closed Captioned is your life saver.

We always will need closed captioning on our television... No matter what...

5. When you caught someone staring at you signing...

This often happened in restaurants, fast food restaurants, store, mall...well pretty much EVERYWHERE. You will always catch someone staring at you while you're talking in sign language...

6. People are kind of afraid of our gestures.

Every time we do gestures to hearing people and they seemed like mind blown at our gestures. Like they don't really understand the obvious gestures.

7. Not able to know what everyone is laughing about...

At family gatherings, when everyone is laughing about something funny. I'm just like what's so funny? Nobody is able to tell us what's funny... Ok great, I'm out.

8. The peaceful sound... NO SOUND... So Peaceful...

We're so glad that we don't have to listen the screaming, thunder, crying, yelling, and any such annoying sounds. So quiet...so peaceful...

9. Not so fast...we do FEEL..

Not being able to hear the sounds...but we still can feel the music blasting, people pounding on table or any such stuff.

10. The ability to talk about someone while they don't know what we are saying...

You talk about us without us knowing what you're saying....well we do the same thing in sign language. You may watch us talk but you'll not be able to understand us. Fair enough!

11. Sign language is mind blown to hearing people...

Signing is a mind blown to people... A lot of gesture and body action... MIND BLOWN. Like wow what did you just do?! Um we do sign language... WOW!

12. The ability to talk underwater... YES UNDERWATER!

We're able to communicate underwater with sign language... Hearing people can not speak underwater... Cool, huh?

13. We don't need to be fixed. We're PERFECTLY FINE!

People suggesting us to get hearing aids or cochlear implants....PLEASE!!! We are happy of who we are... If we want them, we'll decide ourselves. Not you. Thank you very much!
