Response to Cat-Shaming At Its Best:
I am disabled, so I don’t work - but I am a full-time (mostly) foster-mom for a couple of the local animal shelters. I hand-raise kittens all the time. No, I didn’t give birth to them. That’s the easy part!
What I do is to teach them how to be cats, such as what behavior is not acceptable and how to show love, little things like that.
My job is to make kittens “adoptable”, and having a litter aversion, for example, makes a kitten “Unadoptable”. So I work hard.
And sometimes, no matter what, I lose them to illness. Infant mortality is very high for orphaned kittens. That makes the job ten times as hard.
So my point is - I’m qualified. Yes, I am a cat mom. Oh yes, you bet. And when they’re grown (I bonded with one of them…) they still look to me to be the boss, to push the boundaries, to find out what I will and will not put up with. I am the food-giver. I am the door-to-the-porch opener. Yup, I’m the mum.
Response to 6 Things You Need To Go Out And Do Right Now:
Yeah, it is a kind of dumb bucket list. But I can admire that the author put “quality time with a cat” up there in the same category as doing activities which are designed to create dopamine in your brain, to raise adrenaline, to increase serotonin, and to grow more T-cells - all of which make you much healthier and feel better. Things You Need To Go Out And Do? Including quality time with cats? Listen, volunteering is one of the coolest things you can do in this world. Not just for the self-pat-on-the-back for doing good works, but because you feel good doing these things. You meet the best people there - they’re all volunteers, too, and therefore good people. I’m starting my bucket list early. Spending quality time with companion pets who have not been treated well is a win-win.

Really great stuff, rofl etc.
My cat likes your site, but she doesn’t know what a lot of the words mean. I don’t want to enlighten her. However, she knows how to access Wikipedia, a dictionary, and another encyclopedia that is 20 years old… come to think of it, none of those references will tell her what you’re talking about anyway. Thanks for the laughs!

lol’ing very hard! Hilarious! I swear I know some of these cats…
or else they all say the same thing…
My beautiful girl-cat Sally was a BABE. She was, of course, spayed - but every boy cat for five miles around wanted to hook up with her. She pretended she didn’t know anything about that, that she was a virgin (true) and was not looking for a boy friend (true), but apparently her butt smelled just like she was horny, delicious and hot. If any cat got too irritating, she would slap him and toss her head and say things like, “Stupid cat! What do you think I am, a piece of cheese?”
Judge Raymond J. Pettine is one of the heroes of this bit of history. There was no case law to fall back on, so he went back to the constitution to get the law upon which this case rested. That takes bravery! Every lawyer and judge can argue about interpretation, and they probably have and did.
But it got us past the first hurdle: the first case was won. Now, as the article states, when such cases come before the court, the lawyers and judges cite this case as precedent. Now there is “case law” in existence, so no one has to invent a new defense. That one act by Judge Raymond J. Pettine is one of the biggest gifts to the movement that one man can give. Of course, there are many, many other people who did their parts, not to exclude the brave, angry men and women who first got up and fought back at Stonewall, instead of letting themselves be dragged to the paddy-wagons.
Thank you, Judge Pettine. It gets better, partly because of you. One more note, about the Boy Scouts story; WTF is “Boy Scouts of America” doing when they check the gender of an eagle scout? Do they look into their pants to see their packages? Or do they just accept the person’s sexual identity and take that for granted? If someone presents as a boy, can they be an eagle scout? Or do they have to go through a package inspection first? Well, it’s obvious to me that they are checking how people present, not their penises. If a boy goes to a meeting with mascara on, he won’t get to be an eagle scout - right? I THINK that’s how they’re interpreting sexual identity.
When will the world know that a person is a certain gender IF THEY SAY THEY ARE? When will the world know that a person’s gender has nothing to do with their jobs, their addresses, their clothing, their speech, their children - and anything else that goes on at home behind closed doors???
