I watched the same documentry. That spokes person was obviously chosen to go on camera because he is such a good liar. He embodies the calm- monotone- never blinks- creepy cult leader to a T. I learned about Scientology for the first time while watching this doc and I was appalled. So much abuse and secrecy is hidden under the ‘freedom of religion banner’

I take it back AGAIN! the Panorama follow-up I just mentioned explains why Tommy’s behaviour was so off-the-charts in the first one. It’s seriously chilling - you should check it out.

Oh my god, I take it back!! It turns out he’s the very guy who freaked me out so much in the Panorama documentary I saw in 2007. I’m watching the followup documentary now (you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S65eBxwkYDE - too tired to hyperlink, sorry!), and the clips of the earlier show are reminding me how terrifying Tommy Davis was. I didn’t realise it was the same person in both documentaries because it’s been so long since I watched the Panorama one. I guess he honed his ability to be calm under pressure since 2007.

Yeah, he is far more effective than any of the other people I’ve seen speaking about it - he never gets even the slightest bit angry (at least in this documentary). Tom Cruise and other high-ranking members have been known to be extremely patronising or aggressive, but this guy almost comes across as the *sane* one. You can really imagine - if you were already semi-brainwashed - thinking “What he is saying makes so much more sense than what the others are accusing, so he must be telling the truth”. And so the brainwashing continues from there. Did you know that new mothers are discouraged from breast feeding and are told to give their babies a cocktail of barley water, whole milk and corn syrup?! It’s causing malnutrion in children, and all because LRH claimed he “rememebered it from his Roman days”. WTFFFF?! Oh, and he says you can substitute honey for the corn syrup… but honey is not given to babies because it can cause FATAL BOTULISM! (Aside from the obvious fact that corn syrup causes tooth decay, and babies aren’t supposed to have cow’s milk until they’re older.) It’s so unbelievably terrifying. The more I know, the more disgusted I am. I watched a bunch of these videos last night - they shine a light on the money-making side of things. It’s basically one huge pyramid scheme; everyone has a “quota” to meet (and punishments if they fail to meet them), so everyone is scamming everyone else. Some “religion”. }:-( Tampa Bay Times videos
