NOAA's Ocean Explorer: Revealing The Secrets Of The Sea Floor

Last month, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) conducted a two-week exploration of the bottom of the Northeast US seas, complete with cameras, commentary from its team of passionate, adorably geeky pilots and coordinators, call-ins from scientists around the country, and of course, plenty of creatures rarely seen outside of restaurants or Chinatown sidewalks. The Okeanos Ocean Explorer was mesmerizing. Here are some screenshots I was able to capture.

But that doesn't mean you won't be humming this for the rest of the week.

[Disregarding the fact that under the sea is bedrock and molten lava; this all took place in the sea.]

Guys, the ocean is crazy and awesome and scary and amazing and so much of it has yet to be explored or understood. MORE tax dollars for the NOAA please, Mr. Government!
