Clive Palmer Is Suing Glenn Lazarus And Jacqui Lambie For Leaving Him

Palmer United Party spent $9 million to get defectors into office.

Billionaire politician Clive Palmer's party has announced it is taking legal action against two senators who defected this year.

Palmer United Party national director Peter Burke claims Jacqui Lambie's election campaign in Tasmania cost $2 million and Glenn Lazarus owes the party $7 million for his campaign.

Mr Burke issued a statement saying “It is our view that Ms Lambie and Mr Lazarus have betrayed all those who voted for the Palmer United Party and the party’s members who worked so hard to get their representative elected in Tasmania and Queensland.’’

Glenn Lazarus left the party earlier this month to serve as an independent senator.

And Jacqui Lambie announced this week that she is forming her own political party.
