Admitting that you will likely have unsafe sex again in the future certainly doesn’t make you “committed to staying HIV negative”. It means that you are willing to engage in behaviour which may not only infect you with an incurable virus, but which may lead to you infecting others who may be less informed. I say this because you admit to getting tested only weeks later, ignoring that the antibodies which would indicate an HIV infection could take three to six months to develop after infection, and you’re either unaware of this or don’t care. Either way, it’s appalling to object to the term “unsafe sex” on high-minded intellectual or moral grounds, because that’s what it is. It’s unsafe. Its increasing popularity increases the infection rates of both curable and incurable diseases which will infrequently kill. It’s fucking irresponsible. If you don’t want to be judged, then realize that judgment is justified when your choices are such that they affect not only you, but others. You’re a fucking adult, and you deserve that judgment.

You do realize that this is a first world country, right? With celebrated post-secondary institutions, a very healthy economy, and an excellent human rights record? And that that’s a completely ignorant thing to say?

We should be able to judge members of PETA as dreadful, exploitative, arguably sociopathic animal murderers even outside of the greater issue of animal rights. PETA is the absolute worst.

Ah! Slings & Arrows is my favourite show of all time. Definitely worth the short marathon. Also good: Marchlands, a short, supernatural mystery series from the UK. Only 5 hours long, and stars Alex Kingston (who is amazing), among others.

In addition to the fact that some of these are awful, awful people, this is thickheadedly stupid and insulting in the most shallow way.

Gluten intolerance, for those claiming it, is not an actual diagnosable illness. Family physicians have had to accept patients claims that they have such intolerances because of the overwhelming popularity of the fad, but no medical organization actually recognizes it. Thing is, for those advising others to stop eating gluten for a week, this is TERRIBLE ADVICE. If you stop eating gluten protein for an entire week, you will stop producing the enzymes required to digest gluten. If you attempt to eat it again, you’ll experience quite a bit of discomfort until that enzyme production ramps up to compensate. This is dangerous, because if you stop eating gluten and producing responsive enzymes, no doctor can actually determine whether or not you are a Celiac. And unlike invented intolerances, Celiac Disease can actually kill you. Contrary to the belief that gluten “intolerance” and Celiac Disease exist on some type of spectrum, Celiac sufferers can very much digest gluten, and it’s the product of this digestion which causes medical distress. The reason that people on gluten-free or gluten-reduced diets often report feeling healthier in a variety of ways is that the diet is so restrictive that it requires followers to closely monitor what they eat, which usually results in healthy, more moderated eating. But gluten is tricky, and still appears in many products marketed towards the gluten “intolerant”. If you don’t seek proper diagnosis for Celiac Disease and casually eliminate gluten from your diet, you may still be consuming it in small quantities and SLOWLY KILLING YOURSELF. Ugh… fad diets.
