These Photos Of A Dog Getting Rescued From A Diamond Mine Will Brighten Your Day

"Underdog" has been through the ringer, and then some.

    Meet Underdog.

Eight days ago he fell 700ft into "Big Hole", a diamond mine in Kimberley, South Africa.

Tourists saw him swimming in the pool at the bottom of the mine, looking for the way out.

Attempts to rescue him failed, because the pit was too unstable. Underdog found a ledge to rest on, and passers by threw food down for him. For a week. And then...

Emergency medical care firm ER24 sent seven workers into the pit.

Underdog was suspicious of the rescuers at first, but they slipped a harness on him after some sweet talk.
