Clip-On Man Buns Are Here And They Absolutely Must Be Stopped

When April Fool's jokes go too far.

Clip-on man buns are currently being advertised on Groupon for $9.99.

    And they look like this.

The advert – which features some delightful photoshopping, as you can see – reads: "One of the hottest trends in men’s fashion, the man bun has been popularized by fixed-gear bicyclists and introspective Hollywood actors alike."

It continues by saying that "although the hairstyle oozes with fashion sense, those who sport it might find themselves outcasts in sports bars, motorcycle gangs, and the annual government-mandated machismo test."

So that's why it's important that the man bun is detachable – it "lets you blend in with your surroundings, putting it on when you smell fair-trade coffee or hear a banjo, and taking it off when someone utters the word bro."

It's fair to say this advert doesn't take itself entirely seriously. Here is the advice section on "how to wear it":

    - Comb your hair back toward the crown of your head, in a similar motion to lacquering a reclaimed-wood coffee table

    - Attach the man bun to your natural hair the way the lay public attached itself to Arcade Fire

    - Use bobby pins to secure the man bun, decide bobby pins are too mainstream, use antique paper clips instead

As it happens, Asos announced clip-on man buns were coming out back in April.

It was presumably an April Fool's prank.

@ whoever made clip on man buns ...

But now there is the distinct possibility people will part with money for a clip-on man bun. 😱

And they might not all be doing it ironically.

When they said clip on man buns are real

    Consider yourself forewarned.
