I never cared for Whitney. Even when her voice is (was?) smooth, every performance of hers seemed more like an athletic event than a song. No matter what the words of the song actually were, she always seemed to be singing, “Listen to what I can do!” Celine Dion is the same way.

Having said that: if you didn't know this was Whitney, would you judge this performance the same way? Sure, it's not her usual power ballad, it's basically a one-chord rhythmic funk workout. And yes, her voice is raspy. But she had energy, and her pitch and timing were certainly accurate.

It sounded like a Vegas performance to me. As is always the case with Whitney, I didn't care for this song… but I heard nothing which indicated that she was not prepared to perform.

It seems she has a cold or something. If she canceled people would give her crap, so she shows up and tries and people still give her crap.

She makes me want to take a deep inhale.

we get on people for lip syncing but when they really sing for real we say they suck….Whitney at her worst sounds better than anybody on american idol
