Great fun until you wake up in the middle of the night and it's standing on your chest about to gnaw your face off! Yeah, I know nothing about otters. Just fear-mongering over here.
this is so wrong….and when she is not so cute and cuddly then what? She is a wild animal and that is where she belongs. To many people think this is so cute, have NO CLUE what they are doing to the animal.
Aquatic animal, no water? Not even a kiddie pool?
This animal is probably not a pet…Often when wild animals are taken in by animal rescue as babies they need to be taken home and “fostered” until they are old enough to stay on their own.

For further reading, it's obligatory to mention Gavin Maxwell's “Ring of Bright Water.” This is a first-hand account of a man who had two pet otters in Scotland in the 1950's (IIRC). Warning: This book (or the film based on it) is likely to result in tears. Also, Maxwell's account seems to indicate that Otters are not likely good pets unless they can be provided with an appropriate environment, in which case, owning an otter can result in a heart-warming, heart-breaking memoir.
Also, don't they have some freakish smell gland or something?

I've read that these animals can get very aggressive when they get older. They don't become attached to their owners, like cats or dogs, and have been know to actually attack them for no apparent reason.
